Onion seed galore! These green onions are past their prime to eat, so we decided to leave them in their garden bed to collect seed. They are an heirloom variety which require a different process for harvesting seed than hybrids or bulbs. For these, we can tell they’re ready to harvest when we see little black specks of seed! To harvest, clip the stalks, turn the heads upside down, tap them into a bowl and sift to remove insects or debris. Then, place the seed in a bag or container and store in a
