In Chicago, music blared and green, white and red flags fluttered down the streets of the predominantly Latino Pilsen neighborhood on Saturday as crowds gathered for the start of Mexican Independence Day celebrations.

This year's events coincide with Trump's threats to add Chicago to the list of cities he has targeted for expanded federal immigration enforcement.

With Trump's threat of deportations looming, many Latino communities are left on edge as people came out for the city's Mexican Independence Day parade, which usually spans more than one week and draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands.
